We finished and discussed La Consommation et la Cuisine and then went on to illustrate our personal food choices. On Monday students will have conversations in French about their choices.

We went over the vocabulary at Quizlet, and then learned a little about partitive articles. The homework is to complet the worksheet showing correct use of articles.

Follow this link [HERE] to complete a set of online listening activities from the Bonjour de France website. Please write just the answers in your cahier, then correct. Next, download the file of of (mostly) review nouns and write the French word next to (or on) each image. Look up any words you don't know or can't spell correctly.

We chose an arrondissement of Paris and planned a walk from one destination to another. Students wrote directions, then gave their map and directions to another student to follow. Written directions were handed in at the end of the period. One file below is an example of the writing, the other is a map to use.

We compared a map of downtown Olympia with a map of the 5e arrondissement in Paris, and practiced giving directions. We had a listening activity to trace the route of someone lost in Paris.

Mercredi, 25 avril
Today in class we talked a little about the city of lights in preparation for a project. Starting on Thursday, pairs of students will research an interesting site or monument in Paris and prepare a presentation to share with the class. Students will have time in class on Thursday and Friday, and will have part of the class period on Monday to add finishing touches.

Lundi/Mardi 16/17 avril
Due to SBAC testing we have a different schedule this week, so some classes met on Monday, others on Tuesday. We corrected the assignment then practiced a logic puzzle. Finally, students worked on sentences to describe the location of places in the towns they created. On Wednesday students will trade their maps and descriptions to see if their classmates can recreate the towns.

We practiced a few old and a few new prepositions of location. We also figured out what happens to "de" when it finds itself next to a "le" (du). There is a homework assignment that asks you to say where places are in relation to one another. Next week we will work on describing the town maps we made in class on Thursday.

We played some Quizlet Live with the place vocabulary , then students worked on making a map of a town with at least eight places. Maps are being made using GoodNotes. Most students are nearly finished with this, those who aren't are coming in during Bear Time on Friday.

Today we got a bunch of new vocabulary of place names. The first file has the French words divided into columns: words you know, cognates and new words. If you already know what a word means, don't write it in English, but if a word is new to you, you can write the English equivalent in the space next to the French word. Next, there is a file with images. You should write the French word (with article) on the picture. These pictures and vocabulary words are the same as the words in the latest Quizlet set, so you can check your answers HERE. You can also print flashcards and study sets directly from Quizlet.

After correcting the homework we practiced making sentences using aller + a place name. There is a new QUIZLET set of vocabulary called "Lieux de la Ville". Might as well check it out!

We spent some time doing an exercise that required some close looking at the song lyrics for Dommage, and then got back to our regularly scheduled program with the verb ALLER. The homework is to write sentences based on the pictures of where people are going.

We played a Kahoot! based on house vocabulary and have a short assignment for homework. Read the room descriptions and carefully and compare them to the pictures. Use logic and what you know about French vocabulary to associate them correctly. There are 5 descriptions but only 4 rooms pictured, so one description doesn't correspond to any of the images.

We finished the foldable about the verb ALLER for our cahier and sang not one but TWO awesome "aller" songs. Next we got a worksheet as homework to practice 2 of the 3 ways of using this new verbs.

We resumed "La Folie de Mars" and then watched a presentation highlighting some of the modern architecture of France. We explored a current housing project under construction in Montpelier and then students listed advantages and disadvantages of living in such a building. Most students were able to write partial phrases or adjectives. We will work to perfect these reasons in class tomorrow.

We corrected the assignment then started working on a Keynote project about "ma chambre". You can either describe your real room, or your ideal room. (It's French class, you can lie.) See the file for specific requirements. We will work on this project through Tuesday.

We corrected the assignment and the "examachin" then started a pair speaking activity based on the house and family members. The task was to guess the parts of the house where your partner had placed 7 family members. 3rd period students chose these members of the family: ma mère, mon père, mon frère, ma sœur, ma cousine, mon oncle and mon chien. 4th period chose: ma mère, mon père, mon frère, ma sœur, ma grand-mère, ma belle-sœur and mon chien.

Aside from starting La Folie de Mars today, students also got an "examachin" about the family, possessive adjectives and knowing how to use avoir and être. The "examachin" is due on Wednesday. Remember, you may use tools such as books or notes, but may not get help from another person or from translation services (like Google Translate). If you are confused or stuck, make sure to ask on Tuesday.
We also started some new vocabulary around residences, and will continue to learn more house/yard/apartment vocabulary over the next couple of weeks.

Students finished reading 3 books and answered questions. As they finished, they played a French card game using "La famille".

Students shared their family book in groups of 4,then each student started reading 3 other books and answering the questions at the end. We will finish this activity on Wednesday and will also correct the assignment from Monday.

Students finished their family books today, but before being done, each person added a final page with 5 questions that someone reading their book would be able to answer. These included no more than one yes/no question, and all others used a question word (qui, où, combien (de), comment, quel, qu’est-ce que, quand or pourquoi) without using the same question word more than once. See the attached file for examples.

A super short day today meant that there was not enough time to finish the book project. Students will be able to finish their family books in class on Thursday.
Vendredi, 16 février
Students got to work creating their family album using the iBook Creator app on their iPad. They are including text and pictures to talk about their families in French. Students will have time in class to finish up on Wednesday.
Jeudi, 15 février
Use possessive adjectives to complete the worksheet as if you are "Bernadette". Imagine that you are describing your family. Also, if you got your 20 sentences back, you should work on perfecting them. If you didn't, you will get them on Friday.

Students dropped the .pdf or .jpg of their family tree into Schoology, then got started on Step 2 of this project, which is to write at least 20 sentences about their family. Students should be demonstrating their ability to use a variety of verbs and structures and use a minimum of sentences (maximum 6) using the verb être. The draft is due first thing on Tuesday.
